Database of Approved Animal Drug Products

The VMI program, through its Drug Information Laboratory (DIL) has provided data management support to the Food and Drug Administration Center for Veterinary Medicine for seventeen years. Online database access to the official list of drugs approved by the FDA for use in animals.

This is FDACVM's list of approved animal drug products. New editions of the Green Book are published annually. Subscriptions include twelve monthly updates. Information, a search engine and the current year's subscription form are available on this site.

Terminologies

National Animal Health Laboratory Network

USDA is funding the development of terminology resources for the The National Animal Health Laboratory Network (NAHLN). The NAHLN is part of a national strategy to coordinate the Nation's Federal, State, and University laboratory resources to allow authorities to better respond to any type of animal health emergency, including bioterrorist events, newly emerging diseases, and foreign animal disease (FAD) agents that threaten the Nation's food supply and public health.

FDACVM is evaluating a number of medical informatics standards designed for exchange of data between and among the FDA, drug sponsors and the public. The VTSL is evaluating the terminology FDA will need to support these standards and assisting the FDA in developing standards-based data dictionaries.

VMIL supports the development and application of medical nomenclature standards for the veterinary profession. Resources include an internet based-browser, a discussion forum, and a library of presentations made at national and international meetings.
