VETERINARY MEDICAL INFORMATICS

Graduate Program Objectives

The Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University offers MS and PhD graduate programs in the specialty area of veterinary medical informatics. The program provides the opportunity to develop knowledge and problem-solving skills associated with varied aspects of the veterinary medical profession. Veterinary medical informatics is a new specialty area of veterinary medicine and students will have an opportunity both to develop basic knowledge and skills in the area of veterinary informatics and apply those skills by conducting problem-solving research in one of the active research areas of their faculty advisor. Through the combination of formal coursework, teaching experiences, and problem-solving research, the graduate student is expected to develop proficiency in all areas of veterinary medical informatics.
